The sporadic updates...

While I like to think that my artwork has improved since my relaunch of Acidgirl, I am aware that my posting of new pages has been sporadic. There are a two main reasons for this;

1) I have serious health problems which often make drawing physically difficult.

2) I'm in the middle of rewriting my first novel, 13th and final rewrite. So that takes up a lot of my creative time.

Add in two dogs, a girlfriend, and trying to maintain some sort of social life...well yeah.

The good news though is this, I'm getting faster and more confident in my artwork. So they will get more reliable as time goes on, also once I finish the rewrite I'll have more time to give. Anyway this is my pathetic apology for being a crappy updater.

When your health sucks.

Guess what? My health sucks. I have a pretty nasty bowel condition, which thankfully rarely interferes with my productivity. Unfortunately I also get migraine clusters. Those can last a week, a month, or on one very unfortunate occassion six months. Now those really do interfere with everything.

So just to let my readers know that this comic is active, and in fact will be active for several years at least. Most of the time it will be update every week. But when I have a migraine be ready for filler art, because nothing, absolutely nothing screws up my ability to draw like losing my sight in my left eye, combined with the sort of pain that makes a skinny dip in boiling lead sound appealing.

Well, it's a start.

It's taken me a long, long time to finally commit to putting up my first comic. And a lot of work. And not a few collywobbles. Not to mention backng myself out of it no less than five times. But I have to say, having finally taken the plunge I find myself very happy that I did. I mean, no, I am not really that happy with how my artwork looks. But that will come in time, after all, nothing wrong with a little experimentation, and a lot of growth over the life of my own comic. If I'm totally honest I suppose I have to admit that the main thing I've gotten from taking this particular plunge is that I am more accepting of the fact that what I release doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be as good as I can make it at that time, and I'm pretty happy to have learned even that lesson.
